Dog Behaviour
Sunday 12th November 12pm - 4.30pm at our Moor Allerton Clinic (LS17 5NY)
Part 1
This session looks at normal dog behaviour and explains how the influence of evolution, genetics, biology (nervous and endocrine systems), age and life stages, learning and experiences and emotions all contribute to how your dog behaves.
Part 2
This session looks at why problem behaviour may develop in our companion dogs and examines the nature and causes of problem behaviour such as excessive behaviour, anxiety, fears and phobias, aggression, separation anxiety and repetitive behaviour.
The session will encourage discussion and there will be a refreshment break.
Dog Training and Behaviour Modification
Sunday 26th November 12pm - 4.30pm at our Moor Allerton Clinic (LS17 5NY)
Part 1
We will look at how dogs learn, covering operant and classical learning theories and how this is applied to training dogs. There will be a practical demonstration showing different training techniques and developing the dog’s skills.
Part 2
We will look at how to apply learning theories to modify problematic behaviour, with an emphasis on the emotional drivers behind why problems can arise.
The session will encourage discussion and there will be a refreshment break.
Ideally, this is a follow-on from the Dog Behaviour session on 12th November.
