Jara Mrdja

Jara joined Holly House in August 2021. She is originally from Canada but moved to the UK in 2016 to attend vet school.

Jara Graduated from the University of Guelph in Canada with a bachelor of science in 2015, and got her veterinary degree from the University of Edinburgh in 2021. She worked as a receptionist in a lovely mixed practice in the borders of Scotland for her last 2 years of uni which taught her so much.

Jara has previously worked in zoos and with raptor facilities which helped grow her public speaking skills and developed her love of teaching people about all sorts of wonderful animals.

Jara has particular interests in exotics, dermatology and surgery. She loves chatting to clients and helping them feel like a partner in their pets healthcare.

Jara has ridden horses from a young age but found her niche when she started playing polo 8 years ago. She founded the university polo team back home in Canada and joined the vet school polo team once she moved over. She says it is great fun and she is really glad to have found a kind and welcoming club in West Yorkshire to continue playing with.

Jara also loves photography and painting. She helped support herself through vet school by making custom commissioned portraits of pets and horses. At home, she has 4 pets (one big floofy dog and 4 kitties).
