Francisco graduated from Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro University (Vila Real, Portugal) in 2017 after an externship at the Baixo-Vouga Veterinary Hospital and in the Complutense University of Madrid, where he was tutored by the vice-president of the European College of Veterinary Pathology (Prof. Dr. Laura Peña).
Francisco has carried out research regarding immunohistochemistry in canine mammary tumours so he has a special interest in small animal veterinary pathology, but also in small animal medicine. After working for almost a year and a half in a small animal practice in Portugal, Francisco moved to the UK in January 2019 to join the Holly House team where he developed his love for Emergency and Critical Care.
In October 2019 he got his Official Veterinarian certificate and is now qualified by the UK government to issue pet passports and export certificates in companion animals, among other things.
Outside work he enjoys travelling, photography and music. As a former professional basketball player, he also loves some sports!
