He grew up near Northwich in Cheshire and used to volunteer at an RSPCA wild animal hospital on a weekend. Tom enjoys surgery and has a particular interest in exotic animal medicine. He is passionate about improving the welfare of pet reptiles and hopes to undertake a certificate in Zoological Medicine in the future.
He has kept leopard geckos and tropical fish since he was young, and currently looks after 5 leopard geckos, who are over 15 years old, as well 4 peacock day geckos, 3 fish-scale geckos, a New Caledonian giant gecko and a Syrian hamster. In his spare time Tom is a keen rower and road cyclist, having rowed for Cambridge in a Boat Race as president of the university lightweight rowing club.
