Richard graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2012 and it was during his student days that his interest in exotics first started, having spent two summers working at a zoo in Malaysia. After graduating, he moved back to his homeland of Yorkshire where he worked in a small animal and exotic animal practice. Here, he gained a Certificate in Exotic Animal Practice and a year later was awarded his Post-Graduate Certificate in Exotic Animal Studies. He joined the exotic animal department at Holly House in early 2018 and brings with him a passion for the job with a cheeky sense of humour! Despite his keen interest in exotics and small mammals, Richard loves seeing dogs and cats and getting to know their owners. Outside of work, he is a keen cyclist and photographer and lives with his wife Amelia, who is a small animal vet.
