Understanding My Dog

Would you like to better understand your dog?
Join us for our series of informative sessions for dog owners, led by Holly House's Dog Behaviourist, Hazel.

Why Dogs Behave the Way They Do - Part 1
Sunday 22nd September 2pm-4pm at our Moor Allerton Clinic (LS17 5NY)

Part 1 looks at normal dog behaviour and explains how the influence of evolution, genetics, biology (nervous and endocrine systems), age and life stages, learning and experiences and emotions all contribute to how your dog behaves.

Why Dogs Behave the Way They Do - Part 2
Sunday 13th October 2pm-4pm at our Moor Allerton Clinic (LS17 5NY)

Part 2 looks at why problem behaviour may develop in our companion dogs and examines the nature and causes of problem behaviour such as excessive behaviour, anxiety, fears and phobias, aggression, separation anxiety and repetitive behaviour.

How Dogs Learn
Sunday 10th November 2pm-4pm at our Moor Allerton Clinic (LS17 5NY)

This session looks at how dogs learn, explaining learning theories and how we apply this to train our dogs. It will include a practical training demonstration of how to teach and develop various exercises and how to apply these to help manage dog behaviour.

Working with Behaviour Problems
Sunday 24th November 2pm-4pm at our Moor Allerton Clinic (LS17 5NY)

This session will explain behaviour modification techniques used for common behaviour problems and will include a couple of case histories. Ideally, those attending this date will have attended the three previous sessions so they have an understanding of the causes of behaviour and of training techniques.
