Thomas Roe

Veterinary Surgeon

Thomas Roe - Veterinary Surgeon
Thomas Roe MA, VetMB, MRCVS Veterinary Surgeon

Tom joined Holly House after graduating from Emmanuel College, Cambridge University in 2021 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine and a BA in Zoology. He grew up near Northwich in Cheshire, and volunteered at an RSPCA wild animal hospital on a weekend, working on farms in his holidays. Tom is particularly interested in exotic animal medicine and ophthalmology. He is passionate about treating reptiles and amphibians, and helping owners provide their pets with the best possible husbandry. Tom works at both our exotic and dog and cat clinics, and often works night shifts at the Street Lane hospital. He hopes to undertake the RCVS CertAVP in Zoological Medicine in the near future.

Tom has kept and bred a wide variety of fish, reptiles and amphibians since he was young. He has published research on the social development of fish and wrote his thesis on reptile lighting. He independently tests UV lights for reptiles in his spare time, and keeps a large number of reptiles and amphibians at home. He has kept his 5 leopard geckos for almost 20 years, and he currently also keeps and breeds mantellas, reed frogs, crested newts, day geckos, king's dwarf monitors, New Caledonian giant geckos, pygmy pythons, and Nosy Komba Ground Boas. When not at work, or looking after his pets, Tom enjoys rowing and road cycling, having rowed for Cambridge in a Boat Race as president of the university lightweight rowing club.
